How we'll be operating during the new National Restrictions

In line with the new National Restrictions which come into effect on Thursday 5th November we will be making some changes to the way we operate.

If you need to rehome your dog or cat

  • We can take in dogs and cats for rehoming.  Please contact us on 01455 888257 or email at  info@leicesteranimalaid.org.uk.  One of our team will take your pet's details and discuss the next steps with you.  Please note that we are unable to accept any animals in from a Tier Three area unless in exceptional circumstances.

If you'd like to adopt one of our animals

  • We are taking interests via the Interested Parties form on our website. We can also complete the Interested Parties form by telephone, for anyone who does not have internet access.  If we are able to successfully match you with your chosen animal, or one that fits in with your lifestyle and experience, we will provide a full and detailed history of the animal's personality, behaviour, likes and dislikes, history and veterinary history. Although we cannot invite you to the Centre we can arrange to transport  to your home, ensuring that we fully meet our criteria for responsible rehoming.  Our team have full personal protective workwear and equipment (PPE) and we will maintain effective social distancing at all times. However, if you are self-isolating due to symptoms of Coronavirus or have been in contact with anyone who has had symptoms, or live in a Tier Three area, we would be unable to do a home visit.

Access to our Huncote Centre and closure of our charity shops

  • The Centre's main gates will be locked and there will be no access onto site for members of the public.  We can still sell essential items including pet food and this will be brought out to customers at the main gate.
  • During the National Restriction period we will be unable to accept any donations of supplies for our animals at the Centre as people are being asked only to make essential journeys.  You will still be able to donate food and essential items at our donation points at various supermarkets.  We are unable to accept any donated goods to sell in our charity shops.
  • Our on-site Charity shop and Christmas shop will close at 2pm on Wednesday 4th November.
  • Our South Wigston Charity shop will close at 4pm on Wednesday 4th November.

We want to thank everyone for their support this year and hope to welcome you back to our shops in December.
