Update: Rescue and Rehoming

Although we remain closed to visitors during the current UK Government lockdown period, we can take 'interests' on our dogs and cats for rehoming.

Dog rehoming:

We are taking interests via the Interested Parties form on our website. We can also complete the Interested Parties form by telephone, for anyone who does not have internet access.  If we are able to successfully match you with your chosen dog, or one that fits in with your lifestyle and experience, we will provide a full and detailed history of the animal's personality, behaviour, likes and dislikes, history and veterinary history.

Although we cannot, currently, invite you to meet your potential new dog at our Centre, we can arrange to transport our dog(s) to your home, ensuring that we fully meet our criteria for responsible rehoming.  Our team have full personal protective workwear and equipment (PPE) and we will maintain effective social distancing at all times. However, if you are self-isolating due to symptoms of Coronavirus or have been in contact with anyone who has had symptoms, or you have been advised to ‘shield’ yourself due to health concerns., we would be unable to do a home visit.

Dog intake:

If you need to rehome your dog, please contact the Centre by telephone on 01455 888257 or alternatively by email on info@leicesteranimalaid.org.uk

One of our team will take your details, and those of your dog, so that we can put the animal on our waiting list. This list is reviewed daily. If we are able to accommodate your dog, you will receive a telephone call from us within 24 hours and we will arrange to visit your home to collect your dog.  Unfortunately we are not permitted (under the current UK Government lockdown restrictions) to invite you to bring your dog to our Centre.  Our team have full personal protective workwear and equipment (PPE) and we will maintain effective social distancing at all times.  If you are self isolating (due to symptoms of Coronavirus or been in contact with anyone that has had symptoms) or you have been advised to ‘shield’ yourself due to health concerns, we would not be able to visit your home however.

Cat rehoming:

Unfortunately we are not currently able to arrange for you to meet a cat we have mutually agreed is compatible, but our team will keep you informed and updated until such a time we can arrange for you to visit the Centre and you can spend some time getting to know each other.

Cat intake:

Unfortunately we not currently able to accept any cats into our Centre until such a time that we are able to rehome those cats we are currently caring for.  We will update our website if this situation changes.
