Sharing is Caring

When faced with challenges it's important that we do all we can to pull together. We understand that making sure your nearest and dearest are looked after will be your priority.

Many kind folks have contacted us to ask how they can help our animals, after all, they don't understand the current situation and for them, continuity of care is everything. Due to the circumstances, LAA, like many charities and organisations, has had to take precautions. At the moment, we're having to do without our usual army of volunteers. We've also had to cancel a few fundraising events. With this in mind, we thought we would put together a few ideas about how you can continue to help our animals and hopefully give yourself a little pick-me-up at the same time!

Easy Ways to help LAA cope with the current situation

  • Please follow us on social media, share our posts and send us plenty of pictures and pet updates. People need good-news stories and we can lead the way. We're on Face book, Instagram and You Tube, just look for Leicester Animal Aid
  • If you donate to us, do we have your permission to collect Gift Aid on your behalf? A £10 donation is worth £12.50 with GA and most people qualify. We will happily send you a form and a freepost envelope for you to give us your permission. Please email or telephone the Centre.
  • Hold a Facebook fundraiser or support one from our page. Whether it's a birthday, a special occasion or a  jigsaw challenge, there are ways you can raise money even from home.
  • Play a lottery (over 18s only.) We have a few different lotteries you can choose from and for as little as £1 per week, you could be in with a chance of winning up to £25,000. More info here.
  • Set up a Just Giving page. We always need people to raise funds for us. Even though many sporting events are postponed, there are plenty of ways you can complete a challenge from home. How about digging out those skipping ropes, hula-hoops and exercise bikes? For fans of virtual sports, how about a Nintendo Wii or Play Station marathon? For anyone who can play a musical instrument, could you do a virtual concert or recital? You could always live-stream your event, or pop it onto You Tube. More information here.
  • If you're stuck at home, how about cleaning out your cupboards or wardrobe and selling what you no longer need on Ebay? Find out more about selling to raise money for our animals here.
  • If you find yourself doing more online shopping, how about signing up to Easy Fundraising, Give as you Live, Amazon Smile and/or Savoo? There is information on our website about how you can shop online and raise funds for our animals at no extra cost, please see here.
  • If you're buying from Amazon, you could always pop onto our wishlist and send us something for the animals, please see how here.
  • We have cardboard collection boxes that we send out for people to pop in their loose change. You can request one by ringing the Centre or emailing . Please remember to include your address.
  • We're going to be running some competitions for pet lovers. Who knows, they could go viral ... watch this space!

Finally .. please look after yourself, your family, your furry friends and follow the Government guidance. Keep smiling (we think we can help you with this!) and remember, Sharing is Caring!
