Could you open your heart & home?

L.A.A. is looking to build up its network of foster carers to provide temporary homes for dogs that are not suited to kennel-life.  This could include dogs that are extremely anxious, have a medical condition or struggle to be in an environment with other dogs.

This volunteer role is extremely rewarding knowing that you are improving the dog’s chances of finding a forever home by providing a nurturing, loving and calm environment.

So, if you have lots of love, time and patience and want an animal in your life without the long-term commitment of your own dog, this could be the opportunity for you.  L.A.A. will cover costs, including food and vet costs, and will always be there to offer support and guidance.

What we ask from you

  • Experience of owning or fostering dogs.
  • Follow guidance and advice from L.A.A. and be committed to working with any issues the dog may need help with including training and socialisation.
  • Be at home for the majority of time.
  • Willing to transport the dog to and from L.A.A.’s Centre in Huncote for vet appointments and meets and greets with potential adopters and to collect food and other items.

What we’re looking for in a foster home

  • An adult-only home or one with older teenage children
  • A secure garden, fences must be 6ft+ with no holes or gaps
  • Generally, no other pets however, occasionally we may have a dog that would benefit from a foster home with a compatible dog.
