Next year, L.A.A. will be 70 years old and we would love you to celebrate with us. We will be holding various celebrations throughout the year (watch this space!) and we'll be raising funds too to help our current and future animals.
One project is a book charting the fascinating history of L.A.A., from humble beginnings in our founder, Dorothea Farndon's backyard, to the strong and thriving Centre it is today. The book will be an updated version of the one that came out for our 50th anniversary, Telling Tails (pictured below) with updated information, new photos and even more heartwarming stories of animals finding their forever homes.
We're looking for stories, anecdotes, and most importantly, photographs of adopted animals to feature in the book. We're running a Crowdfunder where adopters, and other cat and dog lovers, will be able to pledge and have their pet's photo in the book. All those who pledge will receive a copy of the book, and those making higher pledges will be invited to the launch and have a special tour of the Centre.
The book will be sold at the Centre and in our charity shop to raise funds for our animals. The cost of designing the book has kindly been covered by the author, the writer and academic Sue Ablett (pictured below) who is a long-term friend and supporter of L.A.A.
We are running the Crowdfunder to try to raise £1,000 towards the printing cost which is £2,650. If we raise more than our target, the additional money will also go to printing. The Crowdfunder will run for three months starting 1st July. When we receive a pledge, we will contact the pledger by email and request a digital image of their cat or dog. The images should be landscape and nice and clear. We are aiming to get 60 photographs/pledges in all.
Will you and your pet join us on this exciting project? We would love to have you!
