Christmas 2024 at L.A.A.

Published 5th November 2024

Ways to support LAA this Christmas

The shops are beginning to fill with Christmas goodies and festive tunes are already playing, so we thought it would be a good time to share with our supporters the different ways to help us this Christmas.

Each Christmas, as part of our Christmas Appeal, every one of our animals receives a lovely gift. If we are lucky to receive enough money to buy gifts for all, the money left over is put towards enrichment. This means that kind supporters will be making the lives of those arriving in 2025 happy, rewarding and fun-packed with items like Kongs, puzzle feeders, ball pools and paddling polls to be shared with friends.

Please donate to our Christmas Appeal here

Please note that our Christmas Appeal is through Just Giving and they have added a ‘tip’ for their services when you donate through them. If you don’t want to pay this, just open the bit where it asks for the tip, and click ‘enter custom amount’. A pop up saying why they’re asking for a tip will appear - just scroll down on this pop up, delete the tip amount and make sure it says £0.00 if you don’t want to leave a tip, then click continue.

Every year, we select a couple of animals to star in our Christmas Appeal and this year the stars are Dumpling and Nile.  Both are very sweet but shy, and this year Nile will be spending his second Christmas at the Centre if a home is not found before then.

Gift Memberships

If you have a friend or relative who is hard to buy for, why not treat them to a Gift Membership to L.A.A. for a year? We can arrange for you to receive their Membership gifts in time for the big day. It’s a great way to show that you care about those friends and family who always say they don’t really want or need anything. Find out more here

Christmas cards and calendars

We have a super cute selection of Christmas cards plus our 2025 charity calendar for you to buy.  Our calendar features some of cats and dogs that we’ve had in our care and some that are still waiting to be adopted.  They are on sale at the Centre reception, in our two on-site charity shops and through our website. All proceeds go to helping our cats and dogs.

Charity Shops and Cattery Shop

We have plenty of toys, treats and essential items for your pets in our shops. You can also purchase a treat for one of our animals when you visit or donate to our Christmas Appeal

Our special Christmas Coffee Shop & Sale is on Saturday 7th December from 10.00am to 1pm and there’s sure to be some amazing festive bargains for you to bag!

The charity shops will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and 27th December.

Social Media

Do you put out a stocking for your dog or treat your cat to a special Christmas dinner? Pet ownership makes Christmas even more special, and we love seeing Christmassy pictures of your furry friends. Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram or TikTok (or all three if you prefer!) in the run-up to Christmas and keep us all smiling. Please do support our Christmas Appeal if you can.

Whatever way you are able to support us here at Leicester Animal Aid, we are very grateful to each and every one of you who help us continue our important work. Merry Christmas!

Opening Hours over Christmas

We will be operating our usual hours over the Christmas holidays. The only exception is Christmas Day and Boxing Day when all our gates and our reception will be closed to the public (that doesn't include Santa of course).

The charity shops will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and 27th December.
