K9kidz Summer workshops get off to a pawfect start

The first of Leicester Animal Aid’s Summer K9kidz workshops got off to a pawfect start! The children perfected the art of ‘making like a tree’ – which is the pose to adopt if you don’t want a dog’s attention and practiced how to ‘meet a dog politely’ with Otis, a lovely chilled-out border collie.

The workshops, run by Jane Harvey, a TTouch Practitioner, and LAA staff, are aimed at 5-14 year-olds and are great for both children that love dogs and those that are more nervous around them.

Once the children had mastered ‘doggy language’ they learnt about clicker training which was demonstrated by Jane and Otis. The youngsters then got the opportunity to have a go at walking with Otis.

Once the children had been presented with their medals they headed off for a tour around the Centre.

The children were all brilliant but it was Otis who stole the show – demonstrating his skateboarding techniques!
