VOLUNTEER INFORMATION

Leicester Animal Aid Association (LAA) is a registered charity devoted to providing new homes for 100's of unwanted dogs and cats.

If you would like to make a positive difference to the lives of these pets there is a choice of ways you might like to become involved. Applicants should have their own transport as the Centre is not on a bus route.

Openings for volunteers include:-

All volunteers are required to be health & safety aware and abide by the regulations set by the management. People considering volunteering to work as cattery staff should check that their tetanus vaccinations are up to date or take their doctors advice. We are a happy team who enjoy the work we do and the animals we do it for. We hope you will join us, to obtain more information please contact the Centre on 01455 888257.

If you have other skills or experience (such as retail, marketing, IT, committee work, event organising etc) we would love to hear from you.

Cattery Staff
To assist with cleaning animal accommodation and general cattery block cleaning duties.  To assist with grooming and socialising cats and providing TLC.
Age:
16+
Experience:
Preferably experience of handling animals and ideally kennels/cattery work.
Training:
As required. On Job
Time Commitment:
Minimum 1 day a week

Reception
The general office team need support staff
Age:
18+
Experience:
Good communication skills (face to face and telephone), computer literacy and general office experience
Training:
As required. On the job
Time Commitment: Minimum half a day per week

Maintenance & Gardening
Odd job help for on site repairs and maintaining garden areas.
Age:
18+
Experience:
General experience of domestic DIY and the use of every day tools
Training: No specific, needs to be a self starter.
Time Commitment:
Minimum half a day per week.

Fund-raising/Site Shop
Fund-raisers for on site projects. Tasks include:-

There is virtually limitless choice for people who recognise opportunity and can implement the project.
Age:
18+
Experience:
Confidence and the ability to communicate well with the public is essentail.
Training:
None specific
Time Commitment:
Sufficient to work within team framework each week
