Children's activities at L.A.A.

Children are often drawn to animals and, here at L.A.A., we want to nurture this interest. We also want to help teach children how to be safe and kind around animals. After all, the children of today are the pet owners of the future.

Talks and Tours

We are happy to come along to children's groups including after school clubs and guiding and scouting groups to talk about our work. We can also deliver talks on how to be safe around dogs or arrange tours of the Centre.

K9Kids Workshops

During the school holidays, we run a number of K9Kids workshops. These one-hour sessions, for children aged 5-16, are a fun way for youngsters to learn how to interact with dogs safely. They are suitable for both children who love dogs already and those who are wary and want to gain more confidence. The sessions are led by a trainer who is qualified in animal-centred education. These sessions tend to be dependent on funding. Please check the events section to see the latest update.

Huncote Hound Club

The Huncote Hound Club is for animal lovers aged 5-16. Members receive their own special newsletter four times a year.  Members also attend activity mornings at the Centre, getting up to all sorts of fun from cooking to crafts, gardening to quizzes. They usually end up getting dirty! One of the highlights of the mornings is always a tour around the Centre and meeting a resident or two. Children under 8 must be accompanied.
