K9Kidz Workshop - Friday August 24th, 2018

24th August 2018 from 10am - 12.30pm

Education Centre, Leicester Animal Aid

Summer holiday workshops for 5-14 year-olds

Our morning workshops are a fantastic way for youngsters to learn how to interact with dogs safely in a fun way. They are ideal for those who love dogs and those who are unsure and want to gain more confidence.

The children gain practical hands-on experience of how to meet and greet a dog the safe way and what to do when encountering dogs out and about.

The workshops are run by dog trainer and Tellington TTouch practitioner, Jane Harvey, together with Leicester Animal Aid staff. The star of the show is Otis, Jane’s adorable Border Collie, who demonstrates how dogs are ‘talking’ to us all the time through their body language and the children learn how to interpret what these signals mean.

There are demonstrations of dog clicker training, a training method which uses positive reinforcement, and TTouch, a combination of massage and confidence building exercises, which can help strengthen the bond between human and animal.

We also do a special tour of the Centre so the children can get to see some of our lovely residents waiting for their forever homes and also gain an understanding of the work of a rescue centre.

The children are rewarded at the end of the session with a special medal.

The workshop is just £15 per child. You can book online here or call us on 01455 888 257.

It's not necessary to stay with your child during the workshop, but you're welcome to if you'd like.  We do limit the numbers to one adult per child due to space.
