About Selina

Pretty little Selina came to Leicester Animal Aid as her owner could sadly no longer care for her. She is such a tiny little girl but her large personality certainly makes up for her size. She loves the company of people and loves to have lots of fuss, however she will let you know when you have overstepped the mark! It can take Selina a while to adjust to a change in environment and she initially found life in the cattery to be very daunting, sometimes feeling the need to defend herself as a result. It is for this reason that Selina will need a very patient and experienced cat owner, who can give her the space and time she needs to settle. Selina would benefit from having plenty of stimulation in the household so lots of toys, scratch-posts and food puzzles would be fantastic. Once she trusts you and the environment she is in, she becomes a little bundle of joy, always hopping on your lap for a cuddle at any given opportunity. Due to her nervousness, Selina would need to be the only pet in the household and sadly cannot live with children.

Cat Care

Until a cat is settled into a new home it is essential that they are not let outside and as a general guide this would be about four weeks. However, this is dependent on the individual cat.
Whilst a cat is confined to indoors you can introduce new toys for them to play with and chase. Cat nip toys can be especially rewarding. A scratch post will hopefully discourage them from choosing your sofa to sharpen their claws! Regular grooming by you will help to cement the bond between cat and new owner and although cats are known to generally be more independent than a dog, they thrive on companionship and interactive play. Even adult cats can be persuaded to practice their stalking and pouncing skills on an old shoelace, or play hide and seek in a cardboard box!
