Leicester & Leicestershire Animal Aid:Working with, and for, the local community
Animal Rescue
LAA takes in stray and unwanted animals from a wide area. Our commitment is to provide sanctuary until dogs and cats can be rehomed. More information.
Talks and Tours
Talks and Tours for the Over 60’s are a great way to spend an afternoon — come and have a look round the Site, meet some of the cats and dogs, hear their stories and provide a bit of TLC. If you would like us to come and give a talk about the work of LAA, just give us a call.
Huncote Hound Club
HHC is the junior arm of LAA—a club for those aged up to 16. There are lots of activities, a quarterly Newsletter, activity days, and the chance to find out more about the work of LAA, and animal welfare in general. More information.
Fundraising Events
Throughout the year a number of fundraising events take place at LAA. There is also an annual Sponsored Walk. The more support we receive for these, the better. So, come along and join us, or help publicise the event. More information.
Alternatively, you might like to think about organising a fundraising event for us—a coffee morning, bring and buy. If you do, let us know and we can supply you with a range of publicity material. Contact us.
Evening Talks
A programme of evening talks got off to a great start. Held in the Education Centre, topics covered included Pet First Aid and Training for a Career with Animals.
Community Projects
There are plenty of opportunities for school, college or other groups to undertake projects at LAA. These might include gardening, painting, or helping in a range of ways.
Volunteers
LAA relies on an army of volunteers to help with dog walking; cleaning kennels and cattery; manning reception, site and grounds maintenance work around the site. So, if you have a few hours to spare, get in touch and become ‘part of the family’. More information.
Education Centre
The Education Centre at LAA is available for use by members of the community. So, if you want to hold a meeting, during day time hours, just get in touch.
Petfinder Scheme
In conjunction with BBC Radio Leicester, LAA operates the Petfinder Service, aimed at reuniting owners and lost pets. More information.
Talks to schools and local groups
Staff and volunteers are always willing to go out to local schools and groups to talk about the work of LAA, responsible pet ownership, Huncote Hound Club, etc. If you would like to organise a talk or a tour, just get in touch.
In the summer months visitors can enjoy a picnic in our conservation area, where we have a wealth of visiting wildlife who enjoy the safety of our grounds.
